I've got more cores that are even more weird:
$ gdb -q /bin/sh ./obj/sparc/tools/binutils/build/ld/sh.core
(no debugging symbols found)...Core was generated by `sh'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

I have no immediate ideas how this could have caused a segfault.
