2 free SPARCstation LX in Silicon Valley, CA USA
Unpacking some boxes from storage, I came upon my 2 SPARCstation LX, and
would like to offer them to the NetBSD community. These are probably my
favorite little Suns of their era, but as I still have a pair of SPARC
Classics in the "lunchbox" chassis, I have no real need to keep these.
The 2 Suns are:
SPARCstation LX
128MB RAM (Sun only supported 96MB, but 128MB works fine)
4GB SCSI disk
SBus hme0
NetBSD 5.1.2 installed, just to clean off the disk and verify hardware.
'dmesg' output included below jfyi.
All I ask in return is repayment for shipping from Silicon Valley, CA
95050 (USA). Inside the US I'd estimate around $25, jfyi; local pickups
are also welcome.
Here's the downside -- the IDPROMs are wearing out:
SPARCstation LX, No Keyboard
ROM Rev. 2.9, 128 MB memory installed, Serial #11184810.
Ethernet address aa:aa:aa:aa:aa:aa, Host ID: aaaaaaaa.
The IDPROM contents are invalid
Which isn't too surprising in these older Suns. The IDPROM can still be
programmed okay, but settings don't persist if you turn it off.
If you wanted to replace the IDPROM, I found these folks:
http://www.memoryxsun.com/5251203.html
I have no affiliation with them, but they list Sun IDPROM (unprogrammed)
for sale for LX, Classic, etc.; I haven't needed to buy any yet, so I
can't speak to their value.
Cheers,
sr.
