Could be that pcre2 is heavy indeed. The machine is a little bit low on
spec, I have seen userland and newer gcc are "fatter".
It still probably shouldn't have locked up, and there should have been a
message on the console, but....
Indeed, that's my point. Previously under 9.3 and on my SS10 on 9.4 i do
get processes killed by out of swap while building. A swap file
temporarily added then may help out.
Was that building devel/pcre, or devel/pcre2?
devel/pcre2 - it comres through a chain of dependencies from git-base
Take in account that it built all subversion-base related packages.
Also yesterday, I compiled tiff without issues. So the machine appears
not to be inherently stable, but possibly handles full load badly?
I have an idea... but I will write a separate message about that.
