I defined _HME_NDESC to be 128, and then the problem went away.
As eeh@netbsd.org mentioned in an e-mail earlier today, the
problem might be that we still use the PROM for console I/O. So
in a sense the problem isn't fixed, just worked around. Anyway,
the system works fine now.
Anyway, thanks alot all of you for hints and explanations!
