I managed to get the GENERIC 1.6 kernel up and running on my Ultra10. 
According to dmesg, the display is:

ATI Technologies 3D Rage I/II (VGA display,rev 0x9a) at pci1 dv2 function 0 
not configured

The problem I have is that X won't run. startx gives me:

Fatal server error:
no screens found
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown)

Can someone give me a clue about what's wrong? Is the graphics adaptor
not supported? Do I need to rebuild the kernel with a different driver? 
I have searched for clues, but to no avail.
