Dunno about powerd, but KDE (and friends') display manager have
GUI-based/mouse-operated "shutdown" with a few clicks. Or create a
poweroff/halt login which has poweroff/halt/whatever as login shell
(and uid 0, and all network terminals in /etc/ttys marked as insecure, so
only console users can use it)
