FWIW, my sparc64 boxes that don't run powerd shutdown pretty much immediately
if you press the soft-power button (eg, on the U5/U10 style boxes.)  this is
a kernel-initiated process and userland won't have much/any chance to do any
cleanup, but filesystems should be unmounted cleanly at least...
