That is true of the netboot program distributed with 1.1 when run on
older Sun3/50 machines.  The version in 1.1-patch1 fixed the problem.
The fixed netboot can be found on
  ftp.netbsd.org:/pub/NetBSD/arch/sun3/netboot-12e

You could also just use the SunOS boot program, but that will not load
the kernel symbol table for the DDB kernel debugger...
