Some of you may have read about my problems with some HP disks on a Sparc.
Since I had some SCSI2 disks on two sun3s, and I decided to swap disks.
I copied the contents quite successfully, having seen this on boot:
sd0 at scsibus0 targ 0 lun 0: <QUANTUM, LIGHTNING 730S, 241E> SCSI2 0/direct fixed
sd0: 699MB, 3658 cyl, 4 head, 97 sec, 512 bytes/sec
sd2 at scsibus0 targ 1 lun 0: <HP, 2213A, C023> SCSI1 0/direct fixed
sd2: 633MB, 1457 cyl, 16 head, 55 sec, 512 bytes/sec
sd4 at scsibus0 targ 2 lun 0: <HP, 2213A, C023> SCSI1 0/direct fixed
sd4: 633MB, 1457 cyl, 16 head, 55 sec, 512 bytes/sec
sd5 at scsibus0 targ 5 lun 0: <HP, 2213A, C023> SCSI1 0/direct fixed
sd5: 633MB, 1457 cyl, 16 head, 55 sec, 512 bytes/sec
Then I went to boot from sd(0,28,0) and got errors. I disconnected sd0, and
set sd5 back to ID=0, and tried again, same errors. Argh.
>b sd()
Boot: sd(0,0,0)
scsi: getbyte failed
scsi: getbyte failed
invalid status msg = FFFFFFFF
scsi: getbyte failed
scsi: getbyte failed
invalid status msg = FFFFFFFF
scsi: getbyte failed
scsi: getbyte failed
invalid status msg = FFFFFFFF
It appear that this comes from my boot rom...
I have been unable to find any info on these drives on the net.
I have:
Selftest Completed.
Sun Workstation, Model Sun-3/60C/G.
ROM Rev 2.8.3, 24MB memory installed, Serial #49726.
Ethernet address 08:00:20:06:5C:CC.
I don't see anything in the rom monitor FAQ about this.
Is it possible that these drives don't speak 6-byte SCSI or something?
Any other suggestions on finding info on these drives? I guess it is time
to un mount them --- rather a chore given the nice case they are in.
