I don't know if this is a type in your message, but bootparamd
uses /etc/bootparams, not /etc/bootptab.
One of the bootparams I use is:
electron root=tachyon:/mono/sys/netbsd/sparc \
swap=tachyon:/mono/sys/netbsd/sparc/swap
tachyon is teh server host, electron the client.
