Oh, that's good news. The one that blew is C1719 (closest to the angle
with the PS connector), is that the one you're talking about?

I did some cleanup but I'm not sure if it damaged anything when it
blew / caught fire a bit... but it's now definitely worth looking into
a bit more! thanks!

Yes, that is a smelly event. Mine is also bare-board, I don't have a
case for it - just the mobo (and B&W P4 FB).
It was salvaged about three decades ago when updated to a SPARCstation...
