I agree entirely, get the Apache server.
I've had it setup here w/1.1a (And yes, I'm moving to 1.2g as
tar images permit).   I don't remember there being much trouble
compiling/running it.  'Course I didn't stress it, it was just
for playing with.

As with many things, Apache has been mentioned in bugtraq, so
you might want to review for potential holes.
