At least two people have pointed out that 16M is 24 bits, not 22.

This is of course correct.  I think I was thinking "16 is 2^4, 4 is 2
bits" - which are both true, but the leap from that to "16M is 22 bits"
is...well, is totally off-the-wall.  My apologies for actually posting
such a blunder.
