Guilty, your honor.
It stopped using swap for kernel compilations when I upgraded to 16 MB.
Result: I was vacuuming and dishwashing while recompiling a kernel, and when
I didn't hear any disk movement for more than five minutes, I nearly panicked.
It was *10 minutes* of pure CPU usage, for compiling one of the nfs_xxx.c
files.
