Forgive me if this is a dense question, but would this change be
beneficial for those attempting to port netbsd to other nonVAX QBUS
machines, i.e. the MIPS DECsystem 5400 or 5500?

I believe these have embedded DSSI (possibly SHAC?), for instance.
