If all else fails manual entry, is the way to go..
There's a serial line boot procedure for PDP-11 described on,
http://www.tuhs.org/Archive/PDP-11/Tools/Tapes/Vtserver/vtreadme.html
manually enter the 1st stage bootloader,
then second stage bootloader knows about a "virtual tape" device on
the serial port.
A VAX-11 version of the bootloader should be straight forward.. :)
you will need to go to www.pdp11.org, find the pdp unix
preservation society (PUPS) site, get a (free) SCO ancient unix
license, and finally!, get a password for the TUHS archive.
Long drive tomorrow, got to go and pick up some 11/44's with
scsi disk & (non-scsi)tape..
.. I *know* there's an 11/7xx here somewhere!..
Cheers,
Steve
