In a number of places, NetBSD/vax uses the construct of

    bb{sc,cc,cs,cc} <BITNO>,<DST>,label
label:

 to set or clear individual bits.  Now that got me to wondering whether
doing the following is an improvement:

    insv {$1,$0},<BITNO>,$1,<DST>

Both have the same outcome (sans CC) but does the elimination of a branch
speed things up?  Anyone what to perform a test?
