No. I just tried that, and it gave this in the log:

May 17 22:19:22 gaia named[19026]: starting BIND 9.4.1 -u named -t /var/chroot/named -c /etc/namedb/named.conf
May 17 22:19:22 gaia named[19026]: found 1 CPU, using 1 worker thread

This was interesting, too:

ps waux | grep named
root 14038  0.0  0.0   88    16 ttyp0 R+   10:19PM 0:01.-87 grep named

(the 0:01.-87 part)

But nothing's running.
