I noticed last night that there is a small button and a green light by  
each connector; pressing the button made the light go from the aui to  
the bnc so I figured that did what you described. I switched it back  
to the AUI setting. Yes I'm using an adapter from the aui (thinknet)  
to rj-45 which I believe is working in that when the machine is  
running VMS (which is currently on the disks), I can see other  
resources on the network. Plus I figure that it's working because the  
vax is making the request to the i386 box.
