Ok. ... and where we begin now? (hope to prevent silence this time).
I've now mounted the disk with 1.5.3 to the VS3176 and got something
like this on the first try to boot:

Huh?
I had unmounted a Simm yesterday to find out if I could get additional ones
( seems to be not possible.. $200 and more .. No, thanks).
Before now anyvbody crys that they have known that there must be something
ba with the memory..read more ..
I've found out that this only happens if I stop the Netbooting of the
6-current (set boot esa0) with a break and then boot from dka300,
regardless of the use of unjam.
Ok, so after setting boot to dka300 and repowering that thing it looks like
this:

NetBSD 1.5.3 (GENERIC) #5: Mon Jul 1 23:34:54 CEST 2002
Welcome to NetBSD!
Terminal type? [unknown] vt220
Terminal type is vt220.
We recommend creating a non-root account and using su(1) for root access.
vs3138# env
HOME=/root
SHELL=/bin/csh
TERM=unknown
LOGNAME=root
USER=root
PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/pkg/sbin:/usr/pkg/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin
PWD=/root
BLOCKSIZE=1k
vs3138#
So it successfully boots like the M38.
I've put in the environment here since it knows nothing about the entered
vt220... hmm, minor glitch, maybe something is wrong with my install,
the same happens on the VS3138.
I'll copy now the 1.5.3 to a disk for the M76. Afther that I'll check the
1.6 and 1.61 if I could find the cause for the stall at the boot of 1.6.2.
Ok, I've booted the 1.6.2 from the cdrom where it stalled and the 1.5.3 as
Netboot..maybe the t.6.2 is working with Netboot too?
I'll check this.
On 1.5.3 the ncr driver is called siN, where the later releases used ncrN
so far as I remember. Was that a bigger change, other code or just renaming?
Common Guys, you must get louder now...
Regards,
Holm
