The state in -current is not that bad, it can compile quite a bit of pkgs natively. Perl needs work (floating point format issues, not compiler related), which blocks a lot other pkgs.
It is? I didn't know the state of it had changed. I will test it out!Perl on VAX, I'm happy to report, is fixed upstream as of 5.26.0 thanks to work done by Jarkko Hietaniemi on one of my machines. It has been tested with 6.1.5, but not yet with -current.
The hacks that Felix mentioned should be fixed, but currently they do not hurt a lot.
I'll run some compiles on a system running -current and will report back. Thanks, John
