pkgin on NetBSD/vax 8.0?

Hello all,

I notice that a good number of binary packages are available for NetBSD/vax 8.0 
at http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/vax/8.0/All/

However, pkgin itself does not seem to be built for any of the 8.x versions, that
I could find, and the postinstall step for installing it thus fails.

Are there any known issues building it from pkgsrc, or should I go ahead and try
that?
