Thanks to all for your help. I have since found that the DLT4000 drive is not supplying voltage to the terminator - not necessarily a bad thing with a short internal cable, since the host adapter is, but it indicates something else wrong on the circuit board. The drive passes its own POST and loads a tape, so it may be minor. (Yes, I have looked for a fuse but don't see one). I am waiting for some blank tapes for the Exabyte 8200 that I have before I can test the host adapter.with it
