I am not at all sure about this. Does everyone install X this way?
Even so, I think we shouldn't resort to built-in paths for things that
are not part of the (Net)BSD distribution.

I'd rather see something like this in /etc/rc:

if [ -d /usr/X386/lib ]; then
	ld_paths=$ld_paths:/usr/X386/lib
fi
... more of same ...

/sbin/ldconfig $ld_paths
