At the risk of slowing down a good piss fight, why don't you
create a /etc/default directory like SVR4 and place an
ldconfig file their with the default system paths. Other
things like login, tar and anything else that could use
site defaults. See Solaris 2.x, SVR4 or SVR3's like SCO
for what I mean.
We now return you to our regularly scheduled piss fight...
