If you're using a package like "intlfonts" you've already over-bloated
your disks with between 60MB and 100MB of X11 junk and so on, so another
megabyte of fonts isn't going to be much difference (the additional
installed .pcf.gz files are < 8% extra)!
In the end these fonts are 100% optional anyway unless you need them in
which case it doesn't matter how big they are because they are what you
need (or unless use X11 emacs a *lot* and you *need* to be able to
distinguish various characters in italic and bold since they include the
*only* complete 8859-1 X11 fonts currently available for free with all
italic and bold characters having visually unique glyphs -- but then if
you also use emacs under X11 then you've added another 25MB or so too!).
I.e. these things have to be kept in perspective! *sigh*
