I must confess that I'm not entirely comfortable with altering every
realloc in the system. Removing all instances of unsafe string
functions seems rational, but I am not sure this is quite the same
thing. Perhaps a comment in front of the uses of the realloc/exit
paradigm to prevent accidents, rather than altering the code?
