hi,

there was a discussion on tech-kern some time back where the 
consensus was that this shouldn't be a mount option,
but rather a system-wide tunable.  I think this should be
backed out from the 3.x branch until those changes are made,
to avoid further compatibility problems.

do you need a REQ ticket for this?
