You realize of course that this will double to tripple the work for me
[and everyone else]. Because I will need to keep a tree with random patches
around, plus re-visit each individual coverity bug page at least twice.

I will rather punt and let someone else do the work. Considering that
there are ~1000 coverity issues outside dist, this process will take
months your way (and much more time than I can dedicate working on
these issues).
