It's not bit-rotting, it works perfectly fine.  Saying that kauth is  
"unmaintained" is like saying "vfs_bio is unmaintained".

DSL made a change that is not desirable, as far as the design of the  
kauth API is concerned.  It should be reverted and his other goal  
should be attained a different way.

This SHOULD have been discussed on tech-kern first.
