I'm working with 1.6 and trying to get an old single board computer with
a RealTek 8139 network adapter up and running as a diskless client.
When I configure the SBC to boot from the lan, I am given the following
prompt:
Press <1,2,3,4,5,6> key to Choose Network RPL server.
1) Boot from local disk
2) Netware RPL server
3) Windows NTAS RPL server
4) Lan Server RPL Server
5) Lan Manager RPL Server
6) Other RPL server
If I select (6) then I see the following activity on the ethernet
interface (from TCPDUMP) Note: The client's name is "pcm".
08:02:16.409565 pcm > 3:0:2:0:0:0 sap fc ui/C len=87
08:02:17.019211 802.1d config 8000.92:65:cc:fb:c3:ec.8001 root
8000.92:65:cc:fb:
c3:ec pathcost 0 age 0 max 8 hello 2 fdelay 5
I saw no mention of RPL servers in the diskless(8) manpage, nor do I see
any RPL package.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to boot this machine in diskless
mode? Remember, this is a single board computer and the ethernet chip is
soldered onto the board, so I can't change out the interface.
Thanks in advance.
