No solution that involves build.sh, but maybe have a look at how g4u (== 
a smallish boot floppy/cdrom) is built. Build instructions at 
http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/#rebuilding, latest sources are at 
http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/g4u-2.2beta2.tgz

While it may be nice to have that 'embed' idea in build.sh, I don't know 
enough about existing platforms to warrant that.
