I think a step-by-step instructin on how to get netbsd going on some 
"commodity" embedded hardware would be more than enough, I wouldn't expect 
you to invent any new wheels. The instructions could include getting the 
system (cross)compiled, boot/install media setup, kernel tuned, and 
possibly shrinking of the userland to save space. Adding apps from pkgsrc 
last.

Platforms I'd love to see covered are your Linksys WRT, or a Gumstix
