mount -t msdos /dev/sd0a /mnt

is the right format, but I suspect that it is:

mount -t msdos /dev/sd0e /mnt

You can find out by typing:

disklabel sd0

and looking at which partition is found as the msdos one.

Yes you can, as long as you are able to configure your network from
the installtion utility.
