I would expect that a new kernel and new apps would not need to have any
of the COMPAT stuff on.  Also, when I've shrunk the install for my own
use, I've removed extfs, msdos and fp emulation.  I'm realize that
there will be folk installin that need them and they will have to go
to a multifloppy install.  On the otherhand, if you want to have 
additionally a single floppy install for a while, you might see
how much space they take up.
