Whilst you're all talking pie-in-the-sky stuff about making it look better,
on the more practicle front, is it worth looking at CD-ROM drives which
have been detected during bootup, mounting them and searching the root of
the mount point for something which looks like a valid install disk ?  If
it's no use umount it, go on to the next cdrom drive if there is one.
