FWIW, I _don't_ think it's practical to add new features while the
existing functionality (be it the display algorithms, or the existing
partition editor, or whatever) don't work very well and/or are

"When do you do this?"  (not at bootup; what if somebody puts in a
CD-ROM later?)

I could believe an option to the cd install that says "search attached
CD-ROM drives for installation CD-ROMs" or something.

Send a PR requesting the feature, if you think it'd be useful.  Maybe
somebody'll do it.
