Hello

I'm having a lot of trouble with GENERIC kernels these days: I have to use
either custom or ACPI-enabled kernels for my laptop to boot with a working
keyboard. I have been unable to install NetBSD 3.0.1 and 4_BETA, because
the ISOs lack the kernel I need. I can make a custom ISO but I think many
people without much time or NetBSD experience wouldn't go that far and
switch to another OS, one that works a bit more "out of the box".

Thus, here are a few suggestions. Please correct me I'm wrong or if some of
them are already implemented.

- support for multiple kernels on an installation CDs. AFAIK on i386, three
INSTALL kernels may be required: INSTALL, INSTALL_LAPTOP (with
PCI_INTR_FIXUP) and INSTALL_ACPI.

- there are cases when a single driver makes the system crash or just not
work as expected (I had the case today with ohci). Having a way of
disabling a particular driver or device from the boot loader would help a
lot, I think.
