Probably. I'm now trying to disable wcurses and see if that helps.

I've also seen breakage in i386, so seems more a curses bug. (See
#36560, have been able to reproduce it myself many times, and is now
also happening in shark too.)
(Furthermore I don't remember this behavior when I installed NetBSD
on a shark back in March or so.)

Yep, that's why it seemed strange. Just wanted to make sure that
sysinst wasn't missing some clear call at some point.
