I propose to rollback to .tgz sets by default in all ports. Rationale: 1. They introduce inconsistency between ports and versions, this breaks upgrade scripts. 2. Overflowing .iso/.img files on the switched ports is unimportant these days as ~everybody installs in a VM or with USB. Buying CDR is almost as hard as buying floppies these days. 3. xz images are excessively CPU and memory hungry during the install process. I find it faster (not benchmarked) to fetch bigger .tgz image + unpack than fetch .tar.xz + unpack. Especially if I install the same image several times in a VM. I find the benefit of .tar.xz (smaller images to fetch) to be not worth the trouble that is caused by this.
