Hello NetBSD folks. I'm wondering if anyone has begun working
on support for the BusLogic FlashPoint cards. The enclosed license
agreement from BusLogic/Mylex Corporation indicates that they have sccb
driver code available which can be distributed either under the terms of
the GPL or the BSD license. I know we cannot distribute, or have a wish to
distribute for that matter, code under the GPL, but couldn't we consider
bundling this code from BusLogic, considering their specific statement that
this code is available for either license distribution mechanism?
From what I gather of looking at the notes by the Linux developer,
this Code can be used to make the FlashPoint cards compatible, in a
programatic way, with the older MultiMaster line of cards, the cars that
NetBSD already supports so well?
If someone has already begun work on this project, excellent and
good luck. If not, is there anyone who might plan to do it some time soon?
I assume a phone call to Buslogic will yield a developer kit.
For people who are curious, see
http://www.buslogic.com
and go to the press releases and read the one about supporting Linux. By
specifically supporting GPL and BSD licensing, I assume they'd be happy to
let us develop a driver and distribute with BSD licensing terms.
I don't have time to take up this project at the moment, but would be
interested in being informed about any progress made on this front.
