Btw, I actually found an application for the selector length field.

For ARCnet or similar protocols, with a couple of (legacy) variants of
linklevel encapsulation, possibly different for each host we talk to,
this can hold the necessary flags per-host in the routing (ARP) table.

Jonathan suggested this, and it would be cute to implement this some
day.... its on my TODO list.

Btw., shouldn't this be discussed on tech-net?
