Where are we with this project? I've been tracking and double-checked the
tech-kern list going back to 1994, and haven't found anything definitive.

Charles was supposed to have gotten an MP board in 1996, and had intended to
have support by 1.3. There are also some references to the ARM people and
the Sparc people doing some work, but it doesn't look like that work made it
into the main source tree.

Is there anyone heading this up or coordinating the effort for the
mainstream? What remains to be done? How can I help?
