That's a moot point.  CD-ROM drives aren't supported by cdrecord
either, and they still use the `cd' driver.

That's great.  But if you do that, you lose audio playback and DVD-ROM
capabilities.  Plus you have to hack up `sd' to make it work.  That's
a lose.

TRT in this case is to add write support to `cd'.
