SunOS 4/Solaris do the same.
I'd like to see the kernel attempt to explicitly report the filesystems
mounted marked dirty or clean (Pyramid OSx did this):
FYI: Marking the following filesystems CLEAN:
/dev/iop00a (/), /dev/iop00g (/usr), /dev/iop01d (/export),
/dev/iop02a (/altroot), /dev/iop02g (/opt), /dev/iop03a (/tmp),
and the following filesystems DIRTY:
/dev/iop12o (/usr/spool/news)
