I don't know exactly what this driver does, but IRDA doesn't really
have much to do with hardware (well, there is a PHY part, but we can
ignore that). See it as a kind of network.

If this is `just' support for some funky hardware in a mips hpc
machine, I would say that it's as far away from IRDA as anything else
in the tree.
