Not of primary interest here.
However, I guess that a device standard on what to do for power management
would have to be a superset of
- what PCI specifies
- what PCMCIA specifies
- what CARDBUS specifies (where different)
- what ATA and SCSI specify
or, at least, reasonable subsets of each, and a method to notify the user
what is available of each.
E.g., the average VAX-as-I-know-it will just be alway-on on all of its nodes.
