Another problem with LKM's I've had other than security is trying to
boot a system that is horked up. On lunix, I've been keeping a
monolithic kernel around ever since one time I had a problem with the
lkm's not being loaded because of a disk problem, and the constant
spew about it to the console made it very difficult to do any kind of
recovery work.

Just something to consider.
