It shouldn't be so slow even on an oldest 386 machine.
$ ls -l /usr/bin | wc -l
352
I don't think anybody would get bored with 0.5 second delay every 350
lines displayed. It's very _short_ and hardly noticable time for most of
us. If you're still skeptical, please try it yourself with your machine.
Could anybody give me a benchmark result with 386 or 486 pc?
