Oops- sorry- not on point. I was really distracted and not thinking. Yes, they
distinguished some *devices* by sense length differences. I don't think this
is the right thing to do now anyway. If it's the Sysgen, don't even try and
use it (it wasn't reliable at all IIRC). If it's an MT02, you should be able
to get a device type (SEQUENTIAL) out of limited inquiry data you get back-
but it's also not clear whether it will pass in of the mode sense/mode select
stuff in st.c anyway- those require at least CCS compliance.
Like I said- I no longer even have any MT-02s, so I can't check. I still have
an Archive 150 and a dying 8200, but those are my earliest drives. Hell, I
even dumped my Cipher 800 BPI mechanicals along with all of my Digital LSI
stuff 9 years ago when we moved from the beach up into Noe Valley.
